Coming off of an inspiring Friday evening with Keynote Speaker Houston Kraft we dove right into Saturday morning by talking about Press Releases. Our HOBY Washington friend, Sean Maginnis, joined us via Skype from Lafayette, LA where he works as a reporter for KLFY. Sean explained to us how a press release can make or break attention your project may get from the media. After a quick Q + A session we were running behind due to some Skype difficulties. By lunch we were caught up and had been joined by longtime HOBY Washington friend and current Board Member Jamie Utt. Jamie gave his presentation, The Wall. During this presentation our students were presented with some heavy ideas and challenged to make a difference with all of the people in their lives.
The rest of the day consisted of a goal setting session and the always favorite Talent Show. The students performed a variety of talents that were enjoyed by all. I think my favorite part of the show – aside from their outstanding talent – was watching Co-LSC Jordan dance along to each performance remaining seated the entire time.
The end is approaching and the students are obviously quite attached. Sunday will be a tough day. Very late night (early morning?) for us staff – off to bed we go!
